THE SHIFT:Art & Spirit
Artists explore non-physical realms of consciousness and the space in-between our ordinary reality and the abstract blueprint of life in the latest exhibition at Knox Gallery.

Kristin Reed, guest curator for this exhibition, features eight artists whose works guide toward a "shift" in consciousness. THE SHIFT: ART & SPIRIT presents the fundamental, unchanging principles of a rapidly changing world and opens us to the oneness of all things. Through the artists' works, we move toward a new understanding of the world as an energetic totality that focuses on the heart-centered; mirroring human consciousness in the world around us.

Participating artists include: Maggie Cousins, Diane Davis, Karen Fitzgerald, Nate Ladson, Paula Overbay, Kristin Reed, Atanaska Tassart, and Shirley Taylor. | Guest Curated by Kristin Reed

The March 9 Opening Ceremony of THE SHIFT was a resounding success! One attendee, Deborah Pannell, posted this description on eventwist.com. She writes, "fueled by the sounds of special guest, Gong Master, Rashu Aten and his Sacred Healing Gongs, guests mingled in the intimate atmosphere of this warm, comfortable space. With its polished wood floors and classic townhouse feel, this place is surely reminiscent of the salons of yesteryear, begging to be filled by the broad assortment of creative folks and patrons of the arts who converged on the launch of the show." KNOX GALLERY
Knox Gallery is an exclusive exhibition space that displays the work of emerging and established fine artists of high quality and unique perspectives. Knox offers to serious collectors and art lovers the opportunity to participate in art experiences, to dialogue with the artists, and to purchase fine works at affordable prices. Our calendar has a list of selected artists, chosen for their well-seasoned and eccentric styles.

Knox specializes in showcasing the work of artists whose work reaches beyond the boundaries of the mainstream, focusing on different branches of contemporary art. These can include installations, conceptual art, visionary, esoteric and spiritually-inclined art, and art of the just cause.

The Gallery also features the artwork of Ms. Myra LaSister on permanent installation. Her work on display is from the archives of her original paintings dating back to the 1960's. In this tasteful installation Myra's son, Charles Knox LaSister, Chairman of the Board of Knox Gallery, pays homage to his mother. Entering the main gallery rooms at the top of the stairs, visitors will enjoy the wide-open and spacious, contemporary renovation. The atmosphere is charming, like a miniature ballroom with beautifully lit artwork as its intended dancers. Viewers will have plenty of space to move about as they freely flow from room to room.

Knox Gallery has a welcoming and homey feeling, yet its look is polished and elegant. The gallery finds its home in a beautiful brownstone on a tree-lined street in historic Central Harlem, in close proximity to public transportation. Open for special events and by appointment only: We look forward to your visit!
